How to choose a customized jersey size? A complete guide to jersey fit recommendations and sizing.
In the process of customizing jerseys, "size" is one of the key factors that affects the comfort and visual effect of wearing. How to choose the size of customized jerseys is not as simple as looking at M, L, XL for daily wear. Especially since the shapes of jerseys for different types of sports (such as basketball, baseball, and soccer) are different, if you don't know the correct measurement and selection principles, the difference between the actual wear and the expected one will probably affect the overall team image and experience.
In this article, UNISTAR will guide you to understand how to read jersey sizes, how to choose the right jersey shape, as well as common sizing mistakes and ways to avoid them, to help you complete your jersey ordering journey, if you are interested, please read on!
How to choose a customized jersey size? Understand these three basic principles first
Before choosing a size, please understand the following three principles:
1. Choose a loose or close-fitting cut depending on the actual use.
Different types of sportswear require different levels of size relief. For example:
- Basketball jerseys: tend to be baggy, making it easier to swing and jump.
- Soccer jerseys: tailored to fit snugly and avoid chafing when running.
- Baseball jerseys: generally have a jacket-style cut and buttons, and are stiffer and thicker in shape.
2. Different size standards for different brands
Many people order jerseys in their everyday size, but the fact is that sizing standards vary slightly from one clothing manufacturer to another. It is always advisable to ask for a size chart with actual centimeter (cm) values for comparison.
3. physical measurement is more reliable than intuition
If you are ordering jerseys for the whole team, please avoid the concept of "probably wear L". Team members should be asked to provide three important measurements: chest width, shirt length and shoulder width, which will be checked and submitted by the organizer.
What's your jersey size? Get these stats and you won't be stepping on the line.
Sports Tops Common Size Chart Reference (Unit: cm)
| Size Code | chest width | Clothes length | Height Recommendation |
| 2XS | 46 | 65 | 150-160cm |
| XS | 48.5 | 66 | 150-160cm |
| S | 51 | 70 | 158-168cm |
| M | 53.5 | 72.5 | 165-175cm |
| L | 56 | 75 | 170-180cm |
| XL | 58.5 | 77.5 | 178-188cm |
| 2XL | 61 | 80 | 185cm and above |
| 3XL | 63.5 | 85 |
A reminder: Chest width is measured horizontally from the armpits (not the bust), and garment length is measured from the shoulder line to the bottom edge of the garment.
Measurement Tip:
- Hang a fitted sports T-shirt on a hanger and measure according to the table above.
- If the size falls between two sizes, it is recommended to choose the larger size (it is safer and does not affect the activity).

Jersey Fit Recommendations
Different sports have different cuts, lengths, and elasticity of fabrics, so here are a few common jersey patterns to recommend:
| Exercise Type | Recommended Fitting Characteristics | Points of Attention |
| basketball | Sleeveless, relaxed fit, long jersey pants | Choose quick-drying fabrics and pay attention to the width of the shoulders for comfort. |
| soccer ball | Short Sleeve, Tailored Fit, Shorts | Fabrics should have elasticity, high perspiration, and easy to show the body shape with size difference. |
| soccer | Buttons, slightly long sleeves, stiff collar | Usually worn with long pants, the length of the shirt should be slightly longer to avoid exposure when running. |
| Running/Training Clothing | Short sleeves or tank tops, tailored to fit | Suitable for lightweight fabrics, highly breathable design is recommended. |
Common Mistakes and Sizing Advice for Customized Jerseys
Common Mistake #1: Ordering in your normal size
Always refer to the actual centimeters, we do not recommend looking at the S/M/L name alone.
Common Mistake 2: Ignoring the elasticity of different fabrics
Ask the manufacturer about the elasticity of the fabric and decide if you should size up.
Common Mistake 3: Choosing different sizes for the same team
In order to maintain the neatness of the team, try to choose the same version as much as possible.
Common Mistake 4: Failure to Provide a Trial
For large orders, please ask if we can provide samples for fitting or sizing.
