Kin-Ball, originated in Quebec, Canada, is the only sport that allows three teams to compete at the same time and on the same field. Currently, there are international tournaments such as the Asian Cup, the UEFA European Cup and even the World Cup, but the promotion of Kin-Ball in Taiwan will only begin in 2019. This time, we have invited Chairman of the Taiwan Kin-Ball Association, Mr. Chiu Chun-Chia, to share with us the current development of Kin-Ball in Taiwan.

Introduced to the sport by a friend in Hong Kong, Chairman Qiu initially had no special views on the sport until a Canadian Kenpo instructor came to Taiwan to hold a coaching class, and after learning more about the game, teaching methods, and actually going out on the field and touching Kenpo, he realized that the sport was a very important part of his life.This sport is not only simple and quick to learn, but also very educational!Chiu Chun Ka thinks that this sport is very suitable for learning in primary and secondary schools in Taiwan, so he decided to devote himself to the promotion of Kinpo!

Qiu Junjia: "After having children, I have been thinking about how to give them a better future or environment."

 

Chiu Chun Ka admitted that a big part of the promotion of Kin-Ball is for his own children, because the core of Kin-Ball emphasizes the sports spirit of "mutual respect", "integration" and "teamwork", and it is a very good thing for children to learn and grow through the process of sports.

 

While he initially started promoting the sport because of this love for his children, he also wanted to give this great gift to all children.

 

 

In 2019, he began to promote around the island, as long as there is any school invitation, as time permits Qiu Junjia will personally go to teach, in the experience of more than 60 teaching, there was a promotion that he still remembered vividly.

 

A promotion site in Nantou County, after three transportation transfers finally arrived in Nantou with the Fu Elementary School, unexpectedly arrived, but suddenly occurred in the whole area of the power outage, and health ball requires voltage inflatable equipment can be used!It is impossible to complete the inflatable operation without power supply, Qiu Junjia said with a smile; "I was really dumbfounded and froze in place for 3 minutes, thinking, am I going to lose here? Luckily, the stores around the school had their own generators, so I had to ask the school teachers to borrow them in order to complete the day's promotional activities smoothly.

In terms of teaching on campus, compared with skill training in other sports, theChoon Ka Yau focuses on fostering teamwork among students.In addition to dividing the class into groups according to the students' athletic ability and physical fitness so as to make the strength of each team more even, the students with better physical fitness or faster comprehension ability will also be asked to think about how to lead the other students on the same team to make progress together and achieve the designated goals so as to score points to win, which is the best learning opportunity for the spirit of integration in the sport of Kinetic Ball!

At present, the biggest obstacle to the promotion of Kin-Ball is probably the price of the ball and the inflatable equipment. The price of the ball is higher than other sports equipment, and the ball must be inflated with special equipment in order to meet the hardness requirement without breaking.However, Qiu also said that the original ball set will be used properly within two years, and if it is damaged, there is a full warranty, and he has also found a cheaper alternative inflatable equipment, so in the long run, buying the original ball set is really more cost-effective!

 

 

 

Thanks to the All-Star Games, the sport has become more widely known, but it has also led to many misunderstandings, one of which is the safety factor. One of the misconceptions is the safety of the sport," said Mr. Chiu, "The safety of the sport is actually very high, as long as you follow the correct way of playing, the appropriate venue and warm up sufficiently, you can ensure the safety and health of the participants!

 

In fact, engaging in any sports will have its own risks and uncertainties, but as long as you are well prepared and practiced, you can minimize the occurrence of accidents!

In terms of future planning for the promotion of fitness ball, Qiu Junjia believes that at this stage, more and more teachers are coming into contact with him, so his short-term goal is to organize more coaching workshops in the hope that the instructors can learn the most correct concepts and become more proficient in teaching, and more importantly, to reduce the possibility of injuries to both students and promoters.

 

Next, we hope to organize intra-school tournaments in elementary and junior high schools, which not only takes less time to prepare, but also does not require too much manpower and funding, and can increase the number of participants.Qiu Junjia said, "From popularization to competition first! I believe that as long as the number of participants gradually increases, Taiwan's athletic strength will definitely rise as well!
