No Ball Hits the Ground—Every Play Counts! Taiwan Roundnet National Team Heads to the World Cup
Starting September 8, 2022, the first-ever Roundnet World Cup will kick off in Park Molenheide, Belgium. Athletes from 34 countries will gather to showcase their speed, teamwork, and flair in this fast-growing global sport. Spanning four days, the tournament includes both individual and team competitions, and Team Taiwan will be there in full force, fielding a squad of 18 elite players.
Played on a circular net with 360-degree attack angles, Roundnet thrives on fast-paced rallies and creative teamwork. The compact playing area, flexible rules, and portable gear have made it a rising star in Taiwan’s sports scene.

Team Taiwan's roster features regular champions from national tournaments. Notably, sisters Ting Yi-Wei and Ting Hsin-Wei, both based in the U.S., will compete in the women’s doubles event. Their team “Besties” has competed — and triumphed — in several American tournaments. But these athletes do more than just play — many are also coaches, organizers, promoters, and association staff. Team captain Yang Ming-Han emphasizes that their participation in the World Cup is not just about competition: “We hope to use this international experience to raise the level of play, increase local interest, and expand Roundnet’s visibility in Taiwan.”

Founded in April 2021, the Taiwan Roundnet Association has already made great strides. In just over a year, it has hosted seven national tournaments, established referee training and certification systems, and become a recognized member of both the Asian Roundnet Federation and the International Roundnet Federation under the name “Taiwan.” Looking ahead, the association is aiming to host the 2023 Asian Cup, while continuing to promote the sport domestically and cultivate future talent.
